Acid Oil Plant

INTRODUCTION
Soap stock is obtained as a by-product of the chemical neutralization of oils and fats. This soap stock could be split into fatty acids and water through acidification with strong acids like Sulphuric or hydrochloric acid. The soap stock is not a waste item; hence we cannot dump it away directly. The soap stock should be converted into a useful product by a process known as Soap Stock Splitting. Acid oil is produced by splitting vegetable oil soap stock with Sulphuric acid or hydrochloric acid. The splitting process can be done either in batch or continuous process, but considering the production cost and quality of acid oil, the continuous process outperforms the batch process.
